These special ships, owned by both German and Laotian folks, are the first to have rooms and travel the upper part of the Mekong River. Find your room, get comfy, and unpack for an 11-day journey (You can check in at 01:00 PM).
Later in the afternoon, you'll go on a city tour. The tour will show you the best parts of Laos's capital city. You'll see the Pha That Luang stupa, an iconic architecture of Laos, and the Patuxai, which is like Vientiane's version of the Arc de Triomphe.
After the tour, you'll come back to the ship, which will start moving up the river. You can relax on the big decks or in the lounge area. There's a welcome party and dinner waiting for you. During the cruise, you'll get to try a mix of Asian and European dishes. Overnight on the cruise.
In the afternoon, take in the beautiful sights and check out the cool things in nature along the sides of the Mekong River. Then, your special river ship will find a peaceful spot to stop and stay for the night. Overnight on the cruise.
As you go further north, the views get even more amazing. You'll see hills full of green plants, huge rocks by the river, and parts of the river that move fast and some that move slowly.
Then, you'll stop and visit the charming town of Salakham. It feels like a real adventure being on the powerful Mekong River. You can enjoy the lovely scenery and spot cool things in nature along the river's edges. Then, your ship will move north a bit more and find a place to stop for the night. Overnight on the cruise.
Going up the river, you'll make a stop at Ban Don Saingam, a little farming village. Here, you can join a short 30-minute walk to check out a secret cave. This cave is a special spot that only guests of Top Mekong Cruises get to see. The area around is all natural, with just a few small villages here and there, and some herds of cattle.
In the afternoon, you can chill out on the sun deck and enjoy the pretty views. We've also got some talks planned about Laos' history and culture if you're interested.
Later on, just relax on the ship. It's got a cozy and laid-back vibe, but with top-notch service to make you feel special. Overnight on the cruise.
While you're having breakfast on the ship, you can take in the lovely view. You might even see some local fishermen working along the shore.
As we move along, keep an eye out for the Xayabouri Dam. It's the biggest place in Laos where they make electricity from water.
In the afternoon, you'll get to meet the people who live in a small hill tribe village. Our guests often visit this village, and we help support it with donations. Overnight on the cruise.
In the morning, you'll go on a guided trip to see the Kuang Si Falls. These are some of the prettiest waterfalls in Laos.
By the afternoon, you'll arrive in Luang Prabang. This place used to be the royal capital of Laos and is now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a walk up Mount Phou Si for an amazing view of the Mekong and Khan Rivers and the mountains around.
Later, you can walk by the Mekong River and check out the colorful night market run by the local Hmong people.
When you get back on the ship, we'll have a celebration. There will be local dance shows and a traditional Baci friendship ceremony. Overnight on the cruise.
Early in the morning, you have the chance to see a special tradition in Luang Prabang, "Sai Bat", where people give food to monks on the streets. You can also check out the morning market where locals sell all sorts of things.
After you have breakfast on the ship, we'll take you on a tour around the city. You'll see the National Museum of Luang Prabang, which used to be a royal palace, and a village where they make local crafts.
After lunch on the ship, you'll get to see more of Luang Prabang. This town has lots of great places to eat. So tonight, you can pick where you want to have dinner. There are plenty of choices in the town or by the river. Overnight on the cruise.
While you're having breakfast, the cruise will keep moving up the river. It stops at the well-known Pak Ou Caves, where you'll find thousands of small Buddha statues inside.
After visiting the caves, you have a choice. You can take a short walk through the jungle to a small village by the river and check out their distillery. Or, if you prefer, you can get to the village easily by boat.
If you're lucky, you might also see some elephants working nearby, unless they're busy somewhere else when you visit.
In the afternoon, the ship will keep going up the river, heading towards Oudomxay Province. Overnight on the cruise.
As you go further up the river, you'll notice fewer boats around. This lets you really take in the amazing views all around you.
You can chill out on the deck, in your cozy room, or in the lounge area. Enjoy the sunshine while the scenery gets even more incredible. You'll see hills full of green plants, huge rocks by the river, and parts of the river that move fast and some that move slowly.
Being on the big Mekong River makes it feel like you're on a real adventure.
Overnight on the cruise.
Today, you can kick back and relax on the deck. You'll be surrounded by all kinds of beautiful views and the peacefulness of northern Laos. It's a nice break from the busy everyday life you're used to.
As the ship moves along the green hills, you'll get closer to the small village of Pak Tha. Here, you have the chance to hop on a long-tail boat for a trip on the Namtha River. This boat will take you to a nearby village where the Khmu people live.
In the evening, you will enjoy our famous Top Mekong Cruises barbecue dinner by a beautiful riverside. Overnight on the cruise.
Have your last breakfast on the ship and wave farewell to the crew from Laos. By late morning, you'll arrive at Ban Huay Xai and leave the ship.
